Robots won’t take over the world; their creators will

A new club has risen up at New Berlin West and Eisenhower; a conjoined FIRST Robotics club between the two schools.   Introduced and approved by Mr. Krack and Mr. Buddish, this will be a 3rd year team even though this is the first year it is introduced to West.

The first meeting for the club has already been set for Monday, November 18th.  The club will meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., for pre-season meetings until the build season actually begins. During the build season, the club meets up after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The club will meet in room 139.

The build season announces the official start of the club by building robotic machines to compete in the Milwaukee FIRST Robotics Regionals, which will occur on March 20th through March 22nd. The build season plans to start on either January 3rd or 4th.

As of right now, there will be no meetings on November 28th, and between December 21st through January 1st due to Thanksgiving, Winter Break, and New Year’s.

Approximately thirty-four students, a total from both schools, signed up this year.

“I think being a part of this club will be a great experience and a great way to learn some new things that could help me with my future,” says one student, who wished to have his name withheld, stated after he signed up.

If you are considering signing up, talk to Mr. Krack in room 130, or talk to Mr. Buddish in his office. The robotics club will be around for the next few years.
