4/4-4/10 Sports Recap

Baseball- Boys baseball is off to a great start after sweeping Pius in a two-game series. LHP (left handed pitcher) Vincent Gohlke tossed a complete game no-hitter while striking out 15 in game one on April 5th on the way to a 5-0 victory. The offense was fueled by the bat of Jedd Czysz, 2 RBI (runs batted in), and Rocco Conrad, 3 RBIs. RHP (right handed pitcher) Tyler Hewitt led the Vikings to an 11-1 victory allowing only 1 hit and one earned run on April 6th. The offense accumulated 10 hits and 6 walks. The Vikings advance to 2-0 on the season and in the Woodland West Conference. 

Girls Softball- The softball game against West Allis Central on April 5th got canceled due to bad weather. Their first game will be April 11th against South Milwaukee.

Boys Tennis- On April 5th, the boy’s tennis team took down Greenfield at New Berlin West. The away match on 4/7 against Nathan Hale got canceled due to weather and got moved to 4/14. 

Girls Soccer- Over the weekend, girls soccer took on Waukesha West and Waukesha South in the Waukesha Quad Tournament. They tied 1-1 to Waukesha West and lost 2-0 to Waukesha South. 

Boys Indoor Track & Field. Girls Indoor Track & Field- This was the last week of the indoor track season. The Woodland Conference West Championship for Boys and Girls was held in the Drexel Fieldhouse on April 6. For the first time since 2013, the boys varsity track team won the Indoor Woodland West conference, finishing with a total score of 166. Colton Godec, Jaden Gregg, Matthew Sundararajan, and Graham McKenzie won the 4×800 meter relay. Logan Burgmeier, Ronan Hoven, Elijah Jandrisevits, and Sam Tsoris won the 4×240-meter (6 lap) relay. Sundararajan, Godec, McKenzie, and Jack Wesolowski won the 4×400-meter relay. Wesolowski won the 400-meter dash, Tsoris won the long jump, Matthew Ewens won the triple jump, and Ian Klein won the high jump. Girls Track & Field placed third with a score of 122. Makayah Kukis, Jenna Kutschenrueter, Julia Garny, and Tasha Davis won the 4×240-meter (6 lap) relay and Meghan Shultz won shot put. The outdoor season is looking very promising for girls and boys track & field.
