Controversy and Opinions
Millions of people around social media are worried that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will be a big issue for people who want to show up at this year’s Super Bowl. Another issue people have spoken about is disappointment that someone Latino is performing because the Super Bowl is an American-based “Holiday”.
Cecilia Senske, a student here at New Berlin West, says that she is very pleased to see Bad Bunny make an appearance at the Super Bowl but the reasons people are upset are unreasonable. Senske explains, “I’m super excited and glad he is performing, but the reasons people are mad are dumb, and kind of racist.” Nicole DeKoch, an art teacher at New Berlin West, also asked about her thoughts about Bad Bunny performing. DeKoch explains “I don’t listen to him, but I wouldn’t mind him performing for the Super Bowl.”

Super Bowl Performance History
Each game is hosted in a different city each year. Every year during halftime, also known as the biggest musical performance in the world, features global artists to entertain the audience. Throughout the early years of the Super Bowl performance Universities marching bands performed, then during the early 2000s, famous artists such as Enrique Iglesias in 2000 and Justin Timberlake in 2004 started getting picked to perform, and that expanded to many artists and groups having the ability to show off their music and bring more people to listen to them. On the other hand, the Hispanic community is celebrating with pride, to finally have someone who actually represents the culture of Puerto Rico and other Hispanic cultures. Even having someone who genuinely advocates the issues going around the world.
