Lorde made her way out to the BMO Harris Pavilion at Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Not only did she sing her full-length album, “Pure Heroine”, but she also had a lot to say before performing her song, “Ribs.” This was a result of having to fill a minimum time limit of a 77 minute show.

Ella Marija Lani Yelich – O’Connor (Lorde) was born in New Zealand and is currently 17 years old. She was named the youngest solo artist to achieve a U.S. number-one single. During her ten minute speech, she not only talked about her experiences in America but also told the audience how she read about Milwaukee in books and always wanted to go there. She admitted that the BMO Harris Pavilion was the biggest show of the whole tour.

The show was only a few seats short to selling out, so the crowd was enormous. Everyone was singing along to every song, even the ones that weren’t so popular. The outdoor venue was something special, and it really fit the atmosphere of Lorde’s music. The special effects were amazing with awesome lighting. The screens behind Lorde while she was playing showed clips of her various music videos and were sometimes showing her, making it easy for the people in the back rows to see. I’ve been to many shows this year, but Lorde had the coolest special effect. Hundreds of gray orbs floated around the crowd, and would puff into smoke whenever touched.

When Lorde made her way onto the stage, all you could hear was screams. Lord herself had an amazing performance. Her voice sounded astounding and echoed throughout the pavilion. She also danced with aggression, and it was very fun to watch. She sung her hit songs, “Tennis Court” and “Royals.” When each of these songs came on, the audience went wild. Not only did she sing her album, but she also included two covers of songs in her set list. She did a cool cover of Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights” which included crazy strobe effects. She also did a cover especially for Milwaukee, of Bon Iver’s “Heavenly Father.” These unique covers were a complete surprise, and that is what she is best at. It made it a one of a kind concert. Lorde ended the night right with an explosion of confetti and her hit single, “Team.”
