Boy’s soccer season comes to an end

The boys’ soccer season came to a close with a loss of their last home game against Green Dale, 2-1.  Varsity midfielder, Grant Martin, scored the Vikings’ only goal.

With 4 wins, 5 losses, and 1 tie, head-coach Hansi Herzog felt “o.k.” about how their home season went.  He felt that they should have won against some teams that he felt were not as talented as the New Berlin West’s boys’ team.  Herzog had said “varsity is unbeatable when playing one-touch soccer, when they get selfish with the ball, that’s when they lose.”

“Next year I’m going to focus on getting the boys in shape and ready to play for 80 minutes,” Herzog said about his goal for next year.

As for JV 1, there home season has come to an end as well with their win against Green Dale, 3-1.  Coach Peter Knebel was very proud of how his JV 1 team did this home season with 6 wins and only 2 losses.

With a very strong JV 1 team, Knebel said the most important thing about the team is that they play for each other.   “I’m going to focus working on cardio and first touch,” Knebel said about what he would do for next year’s boy’s season.

Both coaches hold high expectations for the girl’s season this coming spring.
