Super Smash Bro Release
January 16, 2019
The Nintendo Switch company has made many notable games recently like Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, and Diablo 3. This console has had a large production since its launch in March of 2017. This is because it’s the first successful dual gaming system that’s able to be used on the television and as a portable device.
Nintendo has also made game-changing systems like the Wii when it came out because it was the first counsel to work well with motion sensors and be used for new games like bowling or dancing. It opened up gaming to people who may have not considered it before. However, with all of this considered, the Nintendo Switch and other collaborating companies are still coming out with new games for the Switch.
The new highly anticipated game, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate is possibly the last of the Super Smash Brothers games that have been made for the Nintendo Switch and was launched December 7th, 2018.
“What an incredible game! As someone who has had the opportunity to play Ultimate early (demo and full) at several events and test trials, [Masahiro] Sakurai really outdid himself this time around.” Chrizzly wrote. This is just one of the many positive reviews from a fan.
With a perfect five star rating, Super Smash Bros Ultimate has added many new features to the game compared to the previous games like new character’s, power up’s, and additions like a map with challenges for getting new characters in the game and stronger spirits. Excitement over this game has grown since the first Super Smash Brothers came out with the original 12 characters in the game and the extent to 74 characters in the roster.
It’s nice to see that Super Smash Brothers relates to the original games Super Smash Bros. (1999), Super Smash Bros. Melee (2001) Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008), Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U (2014) and now, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (2018). The improvement of the Super Smash Bros games shows how they started as a small company and grew as the fans supported the games and ultimately became a fanbase.
Fans are excited about the two new characters previewed in the video game intro video with Incineroar, from Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and Ken from Street Fighter, with different unlockable outfits. Unlocked characters include Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, and Pikachu.
The fans of Super Smash Bros are excited but there are still some fans who disagree with the new changes in the game. The new additions, like adding a story mode and the spirits, is too much to add to the game. Some fans don’t mind this addition to the game but the fans that do argue that this is changing the game too much from what it’s supposed to be, a PVP fighting game. By adding too many new features strays the purpose of the game to what it originally was.
“I don’t like that they’re trying to add too much to the game” -Maslah Mohamed, a fan of Super Smash Bros.
A feature that they added to the game are the spirits. Spirits make the brawler stronger in different aspects like strength involving EXP, to raise the character’s level. Spirits can also be evolved like Pokemon spirits and there are a whopping 13,000 spirits that can be found in the story.
In addition to the new map and spirits, the soundtrack by Hideki Sakamoto will be familiar to fans and currently, we don’t know if there will be any other changes. If this isn’t convincing enough, there is a Nintendo Switch exclusive to the Super Smash Brothers game just like the games Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee and Diablo 3.
Why not buy a decal sticker, instead of the exclusive Nintendo Switch for the game?, the reason to this involves the plastic material in the Nintendo Switch reacting badly to the adhesive of the decal stickers. The solution to this is getting the bundle Nintendo Switch that’s exclusively for Super Smash Bros. The Nintendo Switch Console has their iconic symbol on one of the controllers and the doc has character’s from the game imprinted on it. People are also anticipating for different new merch to come from this new game.
Super Smash Bros is hitting the fan base strong with its amazing game visuals, not to mention a large variety of character’s to play as. Even with extremely high expectations super Smash Bros Ultimate still pulls out with a perfect score from fans.
The developer of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai, said, “It’s a bit different from any other game series that regularly comes out with new installments.”
