With prom coming up, the week of shenanigans is in full swing. This week has been full of themes that students are encouraged to participate in. The first crazy day was twin day, where students find a partner to match with, and it seemed to be a success. Walking in the halls left and right, there were twins, triplets, and even quadruplets. Senior Aubree Allen, who was one of the quadruplets, states, “I would love to do another spirit week next year if I could.” Coming from a senior, in general, these events will be a part of your high school experience and memories for the rest of your life, and one day, you might not ever get a “twin day” again. Allen also states, “The hardest part is finding the exact color gradient to match with.”

The student body at New Berlin West always loves going over the top with themes; for example, the blue wigs for costumes that students Emily Lautenbach (Junior) and Skye Johnson (Senior) pulled off is just one of the exciting outfits roaming throughout NBW.

It is events like Twin Day that add much more excitement and anticipation for prom, making students excited not only for the dance but also for the events before it. Spirit week is a special tradition for NBW because of the fun events and the lasting memories it creates. Prom week isn’t just about the dance; it’s about bringing the student body together with entertainment. There can be challenges when trying to take part in a spirit day, which is the main reason why many students don’t participate. Some students may feel uncomfortable dressing up or worry about what others think, while others may not have the resources to fully participate; however, more students getting involved could make spirit week more enjoyable. As the weeks continue, students can look forward to the pep rally this Friday, along with prom on Saturday, wrapping up spirit week with some of the most anticipated events of the year.
